6th & 7th March 2015
19.00 - 22.00
Join our resident astronomer and published astro-photographer, Simon Rowland at our award winning Dark Sky venue in Northumberland's International Dark Sky Park and learn how to take stunning pictures of the night sky.
Friday's workshop will be an introduction to astrophotography, the equipment needed and an overview of the techniques needed to take stunning pictures with examples of images taken by Simon with a wide variety of cameras including smart phone, webcam, DSLR and dedicated astro-camera. The topics of widefield, planetary and deep sky imaging will be covered with hands on demonstration of various kinds of equipment and how they are used.
Saturday's workshop will build on Friday's and add more detail to the techniques for capturing good images and how to process them. Processing examples using popular processing software will be given for guests to practice on using raw images captured previously by Simon.
Weather permitting, there will be opportunity to take images from our very dark observing area on both evenings and to practice the techniques learned, with Simon in support. These workshops are aimed at guests who are new to astrophotography or are having difficulty acquiring or processing good images.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own equipment and will need a laptop if they wish to try processing for themselves, reminded to dress warmly and to bring a torch.
